WORLD’S LOWEST-ELEVATION GOLF COURSE: 214 FT BELOW SEA LEVEL

Located in Death Valley National Park, the 18-hole Furnace Creek golf course is considered the lowest golf course in the world at 214 feet (65 m) below sea level. Due to the elevation of the course, slightly greater gravity and barometric pressure, forces are present that add to the player’s challenge. Recognized as one of “America’s 50 Toughest Courses”, Furnace Creek is 6,215 yards from the longest tees and is a par 70.

WORLD’S HIGHEST-ELEVATION GOLF COURSE: 18,800 FT ABOVE SEA LEVEL

La Paz Golf Club is the highest golf course in the world at an elevation of 10,800 ft. Built one mile southwest of El Alto, the course was designed in 1948 by locals and expatriates wanting a new home to play the game after first being introduced to it in 1911. The weather can vary drastically with greens covered in snow and ice much of the year.

Ushuaia Golf Club
Located only 500 miles from Antarctica and minutes from Tierra del Fuego (Land of Fire) National Park, Ushuaia Golf Club offers majestic views of glaciers and the Chilean Andes. Built in 1992, the golf course is open from September to April and playable during the summer months up to 20
hours a day.

Olivos Golf Club

One of the more recognized courses in Argentina, Olivos is an English style course with smooth, long slopes and fast greens. In 2010 it will co-host the World Amateur Championship with Buenos Aires Golf Club.

Nordelta Golf Club

Nordelta course is routed across former wetlands where the holes weave their way around and across a series of lakes to the south of the River Plate–the world’s widest estuary. Nordelta Golf Club was host to the 2008 Argentine Amateur Championship and the 2009 Argentine Open

SOUTHERN-MOST GOLF COURSE ON THE CONTINENT

Arabella Golf Club
Set along the banks of the Bot River Lagoon (freshwater) in the Western Cape, this championship classic parkland course provides spectacular views of the Kogelberg mountain range. Designed in 1999 by South African Peter Matkovich, it gained fame in recent years from hosting the Nelson Mandela Invitational.

Hermanus Golf Club
This is home to the southern most 18-hole golf course on the African continent. In 2006, it received a major overhaul to incorporate more modern, classically designed holes adding both visual and challenging aspects interspersed into its environment. Here, 30mph+ gusts blowing off the ocean demand accuracy at all costs.

The Links at Fancourt
The Links was host to the 2003 Presidents Cup and in 2005 host to the SAA Open, the world’s second-oldest national Open Championship. A renowned private club, it is considered one of the most impressive pieces of golf design in South Africa.

THE WORLD’S HOTTEST GOLF COURSE

New Castle Golf Club
Located two hour’s outside Sydney, this course is at the mouth of the Hunter River and based on undulating sand dunes that resemble the historic links of Great Britain and Ireland. Newcastle is carved out of a forest of native Eucalypts and abounding with kookaburras, bearded dragons and kangaroos.

Alice Springs Golf Club
Set against the natural backdrop of the ancient MacDonnel Ranges, Alice Springs is located in Central Australia. This arid environment can see sweltering temperatures of over 125 F (52 C) accompanied by hot winds, rocky outcrops and the occasional giant goanna lizards roaming the fairways.
