Death Road Ride

Wow! This was one of the craziest, scariest, most enjoyable experiences of our lives.

We left our hotel around 7:00 this morning on our way to Death Road. Our cab ride today was much different from the normal jovial commutes we had taken earlier in the week. This time anxious faces were looking out their respective windows and the only sounds heard were the loud groans of the taxi engine as it struggled to make it up the steep mountain road toward our launching point. read more

My alarm woke me up at 5:20AM Bolivian time. This is it; the morning that came both too soon and not soon enough…today we are mountain biking down El Camino de la Muerte, Road of Death! I just want to say how truly thankful I am to have such wonderful friends and family and when we survive this awesome adventure you will all mean that much more to me! We have been blown away with the generosity and welcoming nature of the people of Bolivia. Although not a Bolivian native, Luiz Martins (Head Pro at La Paz Golf Club) embodies the culture as if he has lived here all his life.

Golf has taken Luiz from humble beginnings in Brazil; to the head pro job at La Paz Golf club with a successful touring pro career in between. He is a driving force in growing the game of golf with the juniors in Bolivia.
